Please be advised that Unity Healthcare will continue to provide a safe and sustainable service by continuing to request that patients contact us by eConsult in the first instance (or telephone if unable). 

This way, we are able to ensure that everyone is able to get what they need, when they need it. We will continue to provide face to face appointments on the basis of need, following assessment from an expert clinician. 

Being a healthcare setting, we care for a lot of patients who are vulnerable and may have no option but to attend the surgery for important monitoring. We therefore will continue the policy of mandatory wearing of face coverings in the surgery at all times. We appreciate that this may cause some frustration for some, but need to ensure that we do whatever we can to protect the most vulnerable from the ongoing threat of Coronavirus.

Service Update

Due to COVID-19, Clements Surgery is currently the only site that is open.

From the week commencing 5th October, Kedington Surgery will reopen between the hours of 10:15am and 11:45am every Wednesday morning. This is to allow the collection of prescriptions only and will act as a pick up point, with no access to the Surgery.

Steeple Bumpstead remains temporarily closed until further notice.

Requesting face mask exemptions

Due to the recent government announcement about face masks becoming mandatory in shops as of Friday 24th July, we have had a few patients asking the Surgery for letters to exempt them from wearing face masks.

We are not able to provide patients with a letter to exempt them from wearing a face mask. We have been asked by the government not to do so. There is no evidence that face mask wearing increases the risk of complications from respiratory complaints. We would recommend that you follow the government advice regarding face coverings, and make your own decision as to how this applies to you.

Blood Tests

Dear Patients,

We have been badly affected in this region by a national issue regarding blood test laboratory reagent. 

It is at present required of us to postpone all blood tests that are for biochemistry (for example kidney tests, liver tests, prostate and hormone tests including thyroid tests) except for in urgent and emergency situations.

Dr Brandon is going through all of the tests that are booked for this week, and providing instructions for the care navigators to contact you with as soon as possible. 

It is hoped that this will be resolved quickly, but we will keep you updated if this is an ongoing problem.

We are still able to do haematology tests including blood counts and INR tests for Warfarin. We will try to as much as we can for people who have appointments booked for long-term conditions. 

Do still attend your appointment unless you have been told it is cancelled.

This is a national issue, not just here at the surgery, and we will do what we can to reduce inconvenience to you.

I appreciate that is frustrating, and we could really have done without this additional disruption just as we are trying to get routine services back on track.
